ACUPUNCTURE
The acupuncture treatment is the introduction / needle puncture in the animal body at specific points - acupoints. The needles used are solid (not hollow like in hypodermic injection) and filiform (very thin - the thickness of a hair, four times thinner than an insulin needle). During the session, the needles are left for approximately 15 to 30 minutes and are then removed.
Acupuncture is not painful and the animals do not need to be sedated because they usually accept the treatment without problems. Sometimes, in the first session, you may need the use of muzzle, because it’s a strange situation for the animal, but from the 2nd and in the following sessions the animals do not usually show signs of displeasure about the treatment.
Patients may not feel anything at all, or may experience a slight tingling or a sensation of pressure, while the needles are inserted into the skin.
After the needles are placed, patients feel nothing, not even feel the needle itself, although there may be situations in which an animal is deemed uncomfortable and, in these cases, the needles are removed or repositioned.
