- STROKE - TOY – Dog, Male, Age: 15 years, Breed Pinscher -
After a possible stroke the animal had paresis of the 4 limbs.
Toy improved with allopathic treatment that began shortly after the stroke, especially during the 1st week, when he was able to be in sternal recumbency, but continuing with spastic paresis mainly of members of the right side
Acupuncture treatment began about 2 weeks after the stroke.
Toy had 5 sessions of simple acupuncture and electroacupuncture, in an interval of three weeks, in addition to allopathic treatment.
At the end of three weeks of treatment with acupuncture Toy could already stand up alone easily, remain standing in balance and was moving well without any help, though still with some ataxia (motor incoordination).
After that time the owners of the animal chose to discontinue treatment.
